The Sage Dictionary of Cultural Studies

One of the terms featured in this unique dictionary is the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies at the U. of Birmingham, UK. Barker, apparently an independent UK academic, calls CCCS (1964-1988) the starting point for institutionally-based cultural studies. In his enlightening introduction, he describes the construction (see constructionism) of cultural studies as a language-game from a perspective that "hovers between post- Marxism and neo-pragmatism."
