Speaking Ill of the Dead: Jerks in Montana History features twenty-seven short profiles of notorious bad guys, perpetrators of mischief, visionary if misunderstood thinkers, and other colorful antiheroes from the history of the Treasure State. It reveals the dark side of some well-known and even revered characters from Montana’s past—both part-time Jerks and others who were Jerks through and through.  They include:
Touissant Charbonneau, erstwhile husband of Sacagawea and foolish counterpart to her efforts for the Lewis and Clark Expedition
Sir St. George Gore, who left a trail of destruction in his wake during a nineteenth-century hunting expedition
