Sigmund Freud: Exploring the Mysteries of the Mind

Sigmund Freud is the father of modern psychotherapy. Our present-day concepts of transference, Oedipal Complexes, the unconscious, the id, the ego and superego can all be traced back to the pioneering work of Freud. Over the last century, this work has helped millions of people suffering from mental illness.

Born in Moravia in 1856, Freud's family eventually moved to the Austrian capital of Vienna, where he was raised. In 1886 Freud opened his psychiatric practice in Vienna. Many of the methods he employed in therapy during this time became standards that persist to this day. Without a doubt, this marks Sigmund Freud as one of the most influential figures of modern thinking.
