This book examines the extraordinary personality of Claus Count Stauffenberg: poetic youth, soldier, Christian, nobleman, General-staff officer, Panzer-division quartermaster and operations officer, co-administrator of the papers and intellectual legacy of the poet Stefan George, and enemy of Hitler. Stauffenberg's personality is thrown into relief by his two brothers and by several other family members and friends. No other work has yet probed Stauffenberg's life and mind so deeply, or has offered such a comprehensive account of resistance to Hitler at the highest administrative level.
