An Overview of South African Human Resources Development

Using theory and social research, this overview of human resources development in South Africa focuses on three institutional subsystems in South African society—the youth labor market, the world of work, and the national system of science and innovation. Arguing for policy implementation, this volume identifies five key determinants—from educational institutions to the absence of internal labor market practices—to study the possibility of creating interlocking social systems and a more effective human resource institution.
