The Net Effect: School Library Media Centers and the Internet

As we face the new millennium, we must reassess the role of learning. The Net Effect addresses the changing needs of learning communities. This collection of over forty essays offers strategies and resources for dealing with issues such as censorship, electronic collection development, children's literature and the Internet, using MO's in education, the school library home page, and changing roles within the profession. These presentations formed the basis of a groundbreaking Virtual Conference coordinated by the editors in 1997. The range of topics is broad and the debate is solid, revealing that teacher librarians across the world are on the cutting edge of education, that issues are the same or similar the world over, and that there are a range of viable viewpoints and possibly solutions to the problems facing all librarians.
