Same Call, Different Men: The Evolution of the Priesthood since Vatican II

Far-reaching changes continue to take place in the American priesthood. In a 2009 survey sponsored by the National Federation of Priests Councils that replicated previous surveys going back forty years, more than 900 priests shared attitudes about their lives and ministry. This book relates the priests' views, experiences, and stories. It addresses the challenges of ministry during a time of fewer ordinations, with an increasingly diverse and multicultural laity, and in the post-sex abuse scandal era that has damaged the reputation of so many priests. It also relates the many satisfactions of being a priest, a man who brings Christ to others and who is invited into the many profound moments of their lives.
