Optical Clearing of Tissues and Blood

The control of optical properties in in vivo tissues is very important for many medical applications, such as those which employ laser beams or various imaging techniques. In this advanced level text, Tuchin (optics and biomedical physics, Saratov State U., Russia) describes a method for the optical clearing of tissues and blood. The method is based on the reversible reduction of tissue scattering due to refractive index matching of scatterers and ground matter.
