Regulatory Frameworks for Dam Safety: A Comparative Study

Bradlow (law, American U.) and his collaborators (both from the World Bank) compare and contrast the regulatory frameworks of 22 countries for maintaining the safety of water storage dams used in hydropower, water supply, irrigation, flood control, or multipurpose projects, although the authors suggest that points made in the study will be relevant to other times. After comparing the regulatory regimes of the countries, the report makes recommendations as to what the essential elements are that should be included in all dam safety regulatory frameworks.
