To address the_x000D_ lack of information and guide the development of policies and programs on HRH, Toward_x000D_ Interventions in Human Resources for Health in Ghana: Evidence for Health Workforce Planning_x000D_ and Results aims to paint a comprehensive picture of HRH, consolidating new and existing_x000D_ evidence on the stock, distribution, and performance of h ealth workers to focus on the what,_x000D_ as in What is the situation on HRH? and the how, as in How is this situation explained?_x000D_ _x000D_ The book highlights new evidence on some of the underlying determinants affecting_x000D_ the stock, distribution, and performance of health workers in Ghana, including health_x000D_ worker production and attrition, capacity to manage HRH, the capacity of health training_x000D_ institutions, and health worker compensation. Policy options on HRH are also discussed, as is_x000D_ the fi scal and political environment needed to develop and implement such interventions._x000D_ _x000D_ The data and findings presented in this book are the result of extended and close_x000D_ collaboration between the Ghana Technical Working Group on HRH (led by the Ministry_x000D_ of Health) and the World Bank’s Africa Region Technical Team on HRH. The information in_x000D_ this book will provide a better basis for Ghanaian decision makers and external partners to_x000D_ have a dialogue on HRH and related policies.
