This account of the adventures of Lewis and Clark is accurate in every detail except one: it is written as though Seaman, Meriwether Lewis's Newfoundland, were the author. Through the eyes of Seaman, the reader experiences the dangers of the of the Missouri River, the grandeur and the difficulties of crossing the Rocky Mountains, the friendship and help of Sacajawea, meetings with Native Americans, attacks by grizzlies and buffalo, and, most horrible for Seaman, the kidnapping of Seaman himself!
