The Erotics of War in German Romanticism

Patricia Anne Simpson received her PhD from Yale University in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. Currently an assistant professor of German at Montana State University in Bozeman, she also taught at the University of Michigan and Hunter College. With her significant background in literary theory and cultural studies, she has published widely in the field of German Romanticism, contemporary literature, and popular culture. In addition, Simpson has received grants from the German Academic Exchange Service and the Fulbright Commission. Her numerous articles and book chapters cover a wide range of topics, from Hegelian criticism to the shifting definitions of masculinity in contemporary hip-hop culture. Simpson is co-editor of The Enlightened Eye: Goethe and Visual Culture, and has served as Nineteenth-Century Program Coordinator for the German Studies Association.
