Hit List for Children: Frequently Challenged Books

Becker (Office for Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association, Chicago) and Stan (literature, Central Michigan U.) give brief profiles of some three dozen books frequently faced by censorship challenges, including works by Dahl, Allard, Blume, Rowling, Stine, L'Engle, Lowry, and Naylor. Each entry includes an annotation, examples of challenges, citations to reviews, articles about the book, background articles about the book or the author, awards and prizes won by the book, where to look for more information about the author, and sources that have recommended the book.
