This thin, almost pamphlet-size publication helps catalogers apply suggested subject and genre headings to individual works of fiction, enrich catalog entries quickly and consistently, and satisfy patrons by pointing them to particular works in targeted genres with targeted characters, settings, and topics. Another feature are the suggested semantic updatings of categories, as in for example, the category "adult fiction" where the suggested substitution is "erotic fiction," and "anti-war films" where the suggestion is "war films."
