Modelling and Measuring the Wider Benefits of Learning: A Synthesis

This review lays the foundations for further analysis of the wider benefits of learning by bringing together diverse strands, some theoretical, some empirical. It describes the origins and scope of the work of the Centre for Research on the wider benefits of learning and provides a selective overview of the five overlapping social domains—and models employed to analyze them—in the context of their relations to learning. The domains are health, aging, families, crime and citizenship.
