In this lecture, Kathryn Riley, Director of the London Education Research Unit at the Institute of Education, proposes that high-achieving schools should receive financial incentives from the Government to take in the full ability range of students living in London. In addition, the sum allocated to schools tackling social disadvantage should be significantly increased. She argues that this would help create a more diverse population of young Londoners who are more likely to value that cultural mix.
