Australia and the Monarchy

Despite the very great and perceived differences between Australia and the British Royal Family, the Australians continue a deep attachment to the Royal Family. Many histories have largely ignored the continuing role of the British Monarchy in the Australian story which stretches back to Captain Cook when he claimed the territory for King George III in 1770. This is the story of the enduring relationship between Australia and the British Monarchy.
