Man and the Maritime Environment

A cross-disciplinary set of essays which explore man's relationship with the maritime environment. They deal with the development of British and American marine science, including past events and future predictions; nineteenth century seafarers and their attitude to sea creatures; and the impact of rising seaside tourism on Devon's coastlines and coastal waters.
