An investigation of the propagandic methods employed by the Severan dynasty. In this thesis, a wide variety of evidence is examined, much of it relating to portraiture. One of the most interesting questions raised is the striking similarities between the portraits of Septimus Severus and Macus Aurelius Antonius, perhaps an aspect of dynastic propaganda?
