Bernadette Hall is the author of four previous collections, including The Persistent Levitator (shortlisted for the New Zealand Book Awards in 1995) and Still Talking, as well as plays and musicals. She was the 1996 Burns Fellow at Otago University. She lives in Christchurch, New Zealand.
