Women, Violence, and English Renaissance Literature: Essays Honoring Paul Jorgensen

Ten essays on women as objects of male violence look at women sexually assaulted, kidnapped, murdered, and threatened with serious violence; violence and the interior subjectivity of women; and violence toward women in Shakespeare's Othello. Four more discuss violence committed by women. Together they reflect the extent to which the Renaissance gendered violence mainly as male and its victims mainly as female.
