The William S. Paley Collection

William Paley dedicated years of service, personal effort, and energy to the support of modern art as a Trustee of The Museum of Modern Art since 1937, as President of the Museum from 1968 to 1972, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1972 to 1985, and as Chairman Emeritus thereafter. His gift to the Museum - and to the public - of his collection of masterpieces of twentieth-century art, illustrated and catalogued in this volume, is the culmination of those years of unstinting support for the goals and programs of The Museum of Modern Art.
