No One to Waste: A Report to Public Decision-Makers and Community College Leaders

Written by a champion for the underserved student, this report clearly demonstrates why remedial education is so vital to our nation’s workforce. Results of the first report, the National Study of Remedial Education, conducted by Robert McCabe, with support from the Pew Charitable Trusts, the League for Innovation in the Community College, and AACC, showed that students who are successfully remediated - Perform well in standard college work.• Demonstrate a tendency to be drawn to occupational programs or direct employment.• Become productively employed. Based on a study that tracked 71% of 592 students who enrolled in a remedial program in 1990, this report creates a compelling defense for remedial education in community colleges.
