Cultural Studies in the Curriculum: Teaching Latin America

Nine American academics contribute ten chapters demonstrating the various ways that teachers in the U.S. practice cultural studies to impart the language, history, and cultural production of Latin America to increase their students' understanding of the globalized world. The text assumes readers are familiar with the theoretical models of cultural studies (but the introductory chapter includes a list of recommended readings for those who are not). The appendix contains six sample course syllabi, including courses for undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as reading schedules organized for semesters, trimesters, and summer sessions, and resources for obtaining relevant films and videos.
