An Early Neolithic Village in the Jordan Valley, Part I: The Archaeology of Netiv Hagdud

The transition from hunting and gathering to farming has been an important field of study in many areas of the world, and especially in the Near East. This report outlines the three seasons of excavations at the site of Netiv Hagdud in the Jordan Valley and the recovery of evidence relating to Neolithic occupation, as well as a review of PPNA sites in the Jordan Valley as a whole. This first part in the series outlines the history of the project and its results, the environmental evidence and specialist archaeological reports (lithics, plant remains, bone tools, use-wear, obsidian sourcing, marine shells, burials).
