Connections and Collisions: Identities in Contemporary Jewish-American Women's Writing

This anthology of scholarship of Jewish women writers focuses on what it means to be a woman and a Jew, and on the interaction between these two identities. Rubin (English, Pennsylvania State U.) and contributors examine themes such as women's appropriation and reconfiguration of Jewish tradition, the conflicts between women's goals and Jewish tradition, the use of Jewish ritual as a source of empowerment, lesbians and Yiddish poetry, and women's activism and the tradition of tikkun olam.
