Mian, an economist and petroleum engineer, writing for engineers, geologists, economists, managers, and others involved in the oil and gas industry, defined the evaluation tools of decision analysis in volume one. The second volume describes the concepts of decision analysis (the books can be purchased separately or as a set). Volume two stresses practical applications, along with explanations of theoretical concepts. Among the main topics are risk assessment, statistics and probability, expected value and decision trees, incorporating attitudes toward risk, determining venture participation, and using simulation in decision analysis.
