For a Special Teenager: A Collection of Poems

Adolescence is a trying time for both the child and the parents. So many changes are occurring physically, emotionally, and mentally. A teenager is learning who he or she is for the first time, and often, they donÆt know how to deal with this self-image. Likewise, the parent is learning that their child is becoming an adult, and they donÆt know how to deal with this either. The emotions that surface between parent and child are often conflicting û frustration, anger, distress, helplessness, and persistence. The teenager is striving for independence but doesnÆt yet know how to obtain it. With all the feelings swirling around this relationship, explosions of emotion are common and painful. This book voices those frustrations with a powerful message û however bittersweet it is, it is also a necessary part of becoming an adult. Simply said, every human being must face adolescence during their life.
The poems in this collection are painstakingly gentle, but powerfully emotional. All parents should give this book to their child as a "peace offering." The words are positive, touching, and loving. Adolescence is a difficult and turbulent journey but when the teenager reaches the other end of the road, he or she is a better person at the outcome.
