The Shape of the Great Pyramid

Many theories surround the geometric and mathematical factors that determined the shape of the Great Pyramid. Herz-Fischler examines and tests the theories of a range of, mostly Victorian, archaeologists, architects, engineers and mathematicians including Jomard, Perring, Ramée and Petrie. Herz-Fischler is mostly interested in the sociological and philosophical context of the theories but geometrical diagrams and equations feature heavily in the text. Most of the specialised material, however, is confined to the extensive appendices along with a comprehensive bibliography.
