China Flower Poems

Poetry. Art. CHINESE FLOWERS POEMS is a bilingual (Chinese-English) book of classical Chinese lyrical poetry translated by Hong Ai Bai and John Digby. The anthology presents flowers both as admired forms of nature and as symbolic projections of human emotions. The 148-page work is copiously illustrated in color and black and white photography. Many flowers prized in western culture from peonies and roses to orchids and chrysanthemums have a long history of particular associations in Chinese cultures, and these are explored by a wide range of poets from the early Song and Tang dynasties to Ming and Qing periods.
