Surface Tension

This book chronicles the story of Margaret Croff, a middle-aged woman living a comfortable life in the United States, or so it seems on the surface. She is married to Steve, a successful accountant, and has a grown son, David, who is about to leave for Italy to further his career. David’s imminent departure triggers Margaret’s memories of her own stay in Italy when she was David’s age. The parallel narratives of Margaret's middle age and young life converge in a painful journey towards truth.
