No self pity here, no stone nor blame cast. De La O's vital and lyrical voice transports the reader through southern Californian landscapes of decimated neighborhoods and abandoned housing developments, populated by urban monsters and fallen angels alike. From venues of incarceration and rehabilitation come poems that celebrate a joy and love of life, and poems that give testimony of self-destruction.
