What a Soldier left Behind in Baghdede: Assyrian Poetry

This is a sixty pages long epic poem by one of the most anticipated poets among our youth, Jameel Al Jameel. The work was written in Arabic and translated by Qusay Maslub, himself an establish poet and dramatist.

Jameel Al Jameel lived through the ISIS attacks in 2014 and the mass deportation of the Assyrians from the Nineveh Plains that followed. This epic poem, 'What a Soldier left Behind in Baghdede', is a poetic documentation of an eyewitness account written by a survivor who composes his misery in poetry in order to feel alive.
