In this book Martin Stepek tells the heart wrenching story, in the form of a long narrative poem, of his ancestors' fight for survival after being deported by the Russians to slave labour camps in Siberia during World War Two. It is beautifully illustrated by fascinating sketches (artist unknown) depicting life in those camps and by family photographs and a letter sent from his grandmother to his grandfather. Despite the harrowing subject there are humane touches, love and hope in this Spanish/ English bilingual book
