Krunchie started writing poems when he was a child of seven, and quickly found that, to capture his (usually live) audience, a poem had to be outrageous or comical. The attention of the audience has to be arrested by the first line of a poem, and every stanza after that must hold onto the audience.
Naughty words are sometimes used for dramatic effect, but the content is not adult but amusing. Since his audience has grown old with him, some topics are, of course, beyond the understanding of children.
Krunchie laughs at himself and his pathetic thoughts and impulses, as well as taking a swipe at some outlandish repressive values passed on to him by his Irish Catholic upbringing.
Eleven additional poems have been added to this edition, interspersed through the rest.
