Love Songs at Harvard Sq.

The poems and lyrics of this small volume were written over a fifty year period during three time spans in college, twenty five years later, and of recent date.
I would like to think that the last ones are more flowing and insightful than the first, but I'm not sure. It's not my call in any case.
Some years back, my daughter was kind enough to salvage some of the old ones and presented them to me. They sat. Time passed.
When moving into smaller digs, I ran across them. They were tired, spotted, mildewed but still hanging on. I thought to myself: they're survivors if nothing else. I set out to do right by them.
Keeping the editor's pencil in my pocket, the old stuff remained as it was. I added a few new pieces.
The poems seem to be pretty much about relationships. One thing I've learned about them is that while you can learn and understand more about relationships as you go along, you have to go through the bloody feelings all by yourself.
This slim volume, then, is that journey.
