Mulla Husayn Unfurling the Black Standard

In 1844 a group of devoted seekers, led by Mulla Husayn, set out from the holy city of Karbila, near Baghdad, in search of the Promised Qai'm. A Messianic figure whose appearance had been prophesised, in ancient scriptures, for more than a thousand years.

Their journey took them to Shiraz, where Siyyid Ali Muhammad declared that He was the Bab, or gate, to the Promised Qai'm. Millions of declarents throughout the world, and from all walks of life, have continued to pledge their allegance to the Bab's message of equality and equanimity.

This book, illustrated in full color, documents Mulla Husayn's travels to Isfahan and Mashhad and describes in detail how the believers broke away from Islam and established a new independant Faith. Written in English, and translated into Persian by Dr. Minu Sabet, many pages contain original calligraphy, by Foaad Haghighi, illuminating the prayers revealed by the Bab.
