Each poem reflects the mood, language, and form of the time it was written, whether it was May 6, 1498 or November 4, 2016. The themes, however, are universal across the ages: power, inequality, intolerance, pride, love, romance, fear, worry, serenity, joy, community, blessings, birth, death, and the constant dread of aging.
