Great Black Swamp II: More Historical Tales of Northwestern Ohio

It took a mighty effort to drain the Great Black Swamp and those efforts are recalled in this volume. The struggle between Ohio settlers and Native Americans known as the Ohio Indian Wars, climaxed at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794 and that clash, its personalities and its aftermath also come to life here. Other retrospectives include the exile of area Native Americans; the pristine beauty of the early Maumee River valley; and of Ohio's first steam railroad and of the local Underground Railroad.
