This is Jacqueline Church Simonds' first published novel, inspired by extensive research she has done into the pirate culture of the 17th and 18th centuries. Ms. Simonds work has previously appeared in various literary magazines. A graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County literature program, she received high honors for her fiction writing. A short story, written by Ms. Simonds in the style of a reminiscence, appears in the July 2000 issue of Down East Magazine.
