How to use movement to develop a child.

Studies and the works of some authors have shown that certain movements are a necessary part of a child’s development for both mind and body (the balanced child). This book introduces some of those movements in a simple and play-based story.

The purpose of the book is to provide children up to the age of 7 years with a fun, creative movement activity that can become self-directing.

The possible benefits of the story could be improvements in:

• social behavior
• physical coordination
• self-direction
• sequential processing (for reading, math, alphabet etc)
• creative child involvement
• independent choice making
• imagination
• self-esteem
• confidence, sensitivity, caring and sharing attitude.

For example, it has been the author’s experience to have children ask for this book in order to act out the story with their peers and friends; to see older children (of their own accord) use the story to instruct the younger children; to have children who are normally passive participate and express themselves. In other words, the benefits of the story are the natural results of the children’s own development.
