Just like any other girl her age, Sabrina Richardson wanted a pair of pearls of her own because she loved to see them on her mom and she wanted to wear them at the Pearly Girls Club sessions. When Sabrina finally gets a pair for her birthday, her mother and other adults teach her how to value and take care of her pearls.
One of her friends, whose family doesn't have a lot of money, wants a pair of pearls too, but can't afford them. Slightly jealous of Sabrina, she talks Sabrina into letting her borrow her pearls. Sabrina, forgetting what her mother says about giving her pearls away, gives in and the pearls are ruined.
Sabrina learns a valuable lesson about taking care of what you've been given.
