Author Dayna Kay Rivers was born in Northwest Iowa. She studied early childhood education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa and The College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California. She, her family, and their dog Gena now reside in Central Minnesota.

Dayna was awarded a grant from a local women’s foundation for her book, “ What a Mother Would Do,” published in December 2002.
