Buggy That Boogied Away

In the introduction, Betsy's dad explained that back in horse and buggy days, her great grandparents had a problem with their horse, Gypsy. Of course, from Gypsy's point of view, the people were the problem. They visited long past his feeding time. He neighed for them and got no response. When they no longer heard him, they thought he had decided to be patient. When they came out to drive home, the horse and buggy as well as the hitching post were gone.

We experience Gypsy's feelings and actions in this rolicking cumulative tale for PreK - third grade. The story is repeated in a song printed at the end of the book. The horse tale is similar to “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” including a surprise at the end.
