Coast Guard Follies: My Humor in Uniform

Ken Smith was a rural boy of 18 in 1951 when the U.S. government asked him to serve. Despite his flat feet, he signed up with the U.S. Coast Guard and began a three-year adventure that took him from the frigid North Atlantic to an atoll in the South Pacific called Ulithi.

Coast Guard Follies is Smith's fond recollection of his time in the service, when the only dangers came from the "push-push" girls, the bad judgment of Lieutenant "Lard-Ass" and an ungrounded goose-neck lamp.
