WHAT INSPIRED ME TO WRITE THIS BOOK?
I have been in the medical field for well over a quarter of a century. As a cardiologist at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, I have helped people with heart conditions and stress-related symptoms. During these years, I have made keen observations of people and their problems that bring them to my practice. I studied and learned from my life as I traveled from place to place and through various stages of aging.
There is very limited information available for people to deal with everyday stress or challenges in a manner they can understand and apply. Following heart surgery, many of my heart patients didn't feel enthusiastic or energetic because they were facing many other problems that needed attention, in addition to their chest pain. I started paying more attention to their total needs as human beings facing multitudes of problems such as dealing with children, financial pressure, coping with a job, a spouse, personal grief, and struggling to survive. You see, I was facing similar challenges in my life, and I too needed help.
So, I started writing a series of newsletters called "The Joy of Healthy Living." They deal with issues that erode the divine sanctity of patients' minds. Some of my new patients were pleasantly surprised that this series of newsletters presented with a sense of humor and provided them with simple, easy to read, practical tips on dealing with everyday challenges in their lives. That inspired me to compile the series of newsletters and create this book. This book is for people just like you who want to live a Stress-Free Life.
The image of a Stress-Free Life has to happen in your mind before it can become a virtual reality. Envision yourself at the finish line having already accomplished your purpose. Also, visualize the memorable journey that you took to reach that destination. Remember that laying each brick is as important as building the cathedral because one loose brick could threaten the stability of your entire dream.
