Ceramics in America 2011

The 2011 volume of Ceramics in America features an important review of the ceramic works of Chinese artist and political dissident Ai Weiwei, and a seminal study of the so-called Chinese Scholar pattern that appears on late seventeenth-century tin-glazed earthenware. Other important topics include Morgantown, West Virginia, stoneware, Thomas Commeraw’s oyster jars, the States Border Series by James and Ralph Clews, and archaeologically recovered ceramics from Maryland and New Hampshire. In addition, ten important new discoveries in the ceramic field are presented, along with scholarly reviews of six recently published ceramic books.

Now in its eleventh year of publication, Ceramics in America is considered the journal of record for historical ceramic scholarship in the American context and is intended for collectors, historical archaeologists, curators, decorative arts students, social historians, and contemporary potters.
