Build-A-Book

In May of 2009 thirty-four writers attempted to collectively author a complete work of fiction in three weeks. They succeeded, in an experiment in intensive literacy known as Build-A-Book. The result of that experiment, a 184-page novel titled Lara's Gems, is included here, as well as a description of the original Build-A-Book event, and instructions on how to replicate the project in your own community. Using the outline and instructions provided in this book, any group of writers can repeat the experiment, and have lots of fun.
