Streets Of Honor

In a testament to the strength of character, a teen returns to the Bronx after years in military schools and finds that his life is anything but safe. He runs in to trouble at every turn. Fights, stickball, basketball, girl trouble, school trouble, 'hood' trouble, house parties, drug dealers, and numerous dangerous situations all leave a mark on Steve. Yet he has people who care for him and a musical inclination that exudes from his pores that gets him through the tough times. This novel is raw with the feel of the streets of New York in the 70's. It is a truthful glimpse into the face of something that not everyone can get through the way Steve does. Streets of Honor is an intriguing look at a period commonly skipped over in the history books and for those of us that grew up in similar surroundings, Welles' description of music, the tough streets, the sports and the love stories will bring back memories.
