Journey of Hope, Memoirs of a Mexican Girl is the autobiography of a Mexican girl who immigrates illegally to Los Angeles, California in the 1970's. The book begins with a very young Rosalina recounting her early childhood memories in a small town surrounded by farms in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Rosalina takes her readers on a vivid journey into life in Mexico as experienced by a young girl in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Surrounded by poverty, the only real hope for many people in the town for a job, a decent life, and an education was to emigrate illegally to the United States.
